Virginia, what you are saying about how you prepare your Eb reeds and how
you use them makes a great deal of sense to me. I understand how you feel.
It is annoying to always be playing "reed roulette".

I never like to use a reed with a LOT of resistance on an Eb, though I used
one with almost as much as what I used on my Bb. I too do not like the
THWAT sound (for lack of a better description) that is often obtained if one
plays on Eb reeds that are too old! However, I too do not like working on
reeds and avoid it like the plague. I mean, why work if I do not have to???
(WHOOPS! - I know somebody is going to nail me for this one!)
