I suggest you assess the 'empirical evidence' for this yourself. After
all, that someone else found it valuable/useless wouldn't say very much
about whether *you* would.

And perhaps you'd find the little additional wrinkle that would make it
work for you.

For example, I sometimes find it useful to 'help' the reed away from the
mouthpiece (using a telephone card), after such an immersion.
