This is speculation but possibly worth checking out. Perhaps your hand
position was previously incorrect and the Kooiman forces you to use a more
nearly correct position. In that case you would be accustomed to the wrong
position and anything else would indeed feel odd. May I suggest that you
have some one check out your basic hand position?
