I tried it and loved it! Only problem for me was that the plastic model
broke. I had a second one that broke as well. I am an older adult player
that took very good care of it and two broke in about a two-three month
period. I don't know how it works for kids. I guess if I could afford it,
I'd keep buying them because it did releive the stress!

Subject: [kl] Thumb Rest
To all,
Despite my seeming unconcern for thumb pain (according to some), as
illustrated in my "Ten Little Children" illustration, I am looking for an
alternative that will help young students so that they can concentrate on
music rather than calisthenics.
In my search I have come across an ad in the September issue of "Clarinet"
which shows the "new Ton Koolman" Thumb rest.
It has a suggested retail price of $29.95 which is far more reasonable than
the more expensive versions.
My question is; has anyone tried this thumb rest and does it work. There is
a picture of this thumb rest at www.rokatec.com for anyone who is
interested. The version of thumb rest I am referring to is the "Etude" not
the "Maestro".
