Thanks Jess for the input,

I am considering that very option. Now that I have a Buffet Festival Green
Line, this barrel would probably be a good match for the bore.

I'm not so sure about it matching my Eaton Bb though. Clark Fobes is also
going to send me two mouthpieces and barrels to try out. He suggested his 4L
for the mouthpiece since I am currently using a Morgan RM-15 (tip opening of
1.15mm). I like using a more open tip with a little softer reed, 3 to 3 1/2
strength.

I am still in the experimentation phase as far as reed brands go. I do like
very much the Vandoren V12's, but I also am liking the Glotin's and Steur's
as well. I am also trying other brands as well.

I think in order to get a good barrel and mouthpiece combination, you either
need to have a set put together by the person making the mouthpiece like
Greg Smith, Fobes, Pyne, Bay, etc., or buy a mouthpiece that you are happy
with and then start trying out all the barrels you can get your hands on.

I probably will go with the former method as the cheapest and most efficient
for me at this time. By the way, my Festival Green Line plays either right
on the money at A440 or slightly under by about 5 cents with the 66mm
barrel. With the 65mm I can get it a little above pitch at A440.

friend of my
clarinet professor (Ronald Caravan) and sent us up ten different barrels to
try out. We were concerned partially with tuning. My Buffet R-13 Festival
came with two stock barrels--a 65 and 66--but I wanted at least a 67 to
counteract some of the sharpness problems I was having. We also found that
the Chadash barrels produced a much rounder, nicer sound than my stock
barrels. I purchased two barrels from Chadash (a 66 and a 67) and we sent
the remaining barrels back to his shop, no problem. It was altogether a
great experience, and I'm extremely happy with the tuning and sound my
barrels produce.>>
