Robert said, in response to a question from Josh about Eb clarinet reeds:

<< Despite "opinions" to the contrary, your facing only gives a general idea
of what strength reeds may work best for you. >>

Robert I cannot agree with your "opinion" stated above. Since the Eb
clarinet mouthpiece and reed are smaller than their Bb equivalents, the
facing and tip opening makes even more impact than usual in trying to find
compatibility with reeds.

I do agree, however, with your "opinion" about trying different combinations
to see what works. I do play Eb clarinet regularly, and I use Vandoren #4
eefer reeds on my Ridenour mouthpiece, with has a medium facing length and
fairly closed tip opening. Most of the other eefer players I know like the
Vandoren #31/2 eefer reeds better, but I tend to use harder reeds than most,
for various reasons which I don't need to go into here. None of the eefer
players I know use Bb reeds, although I know that Vandoren black masters are
favored for that purpose because of their narrow width.

Of course, this is only my "opinion" which I will add to all the other
"opinions" on this list about this subject.

Hope this helps, Josh....
