It seems to be a common solution - especially players who prefer thick
blanks (V12s, etc). However, an easier solution might be to use Vandoren
Black Masters. They're smaller than Bb reeds, larger than Eb reeds, and
have the same thickness as V12s. They work quite well for me.

Just another option.
