Mark,

Those of us us who have been on the list for quite some time (I joined in
early 1994), would also propose having new (and maybe not so new members) go
back and read the archives from the early years of KLARINET. For example, I
have saved numerous complete threads on topics like the use of the
c-clarinet. We spent weeks discussing the instrument, it's use in the
orchestral literature, solo works, etc. I have also saved most of Dan
Leeson's insights into topics like eingang vs. cadenza, in addition to
anything Mozartian. Moreover, where else could you find anyone who actually
OWNED a bass clarinet in A?

It was about as close to KLARINET Camelot as one could imagine.

I once looked forward to signing on and reading the KLARINET posts. If you
can believe it, some days there might only be one or two posts -- but they
all were worth reading. I now find myself spending far more time in the
archives than I do reading the current posts -- most of which are delivered
directly to the delete key executioner.

We can never return to KLARINET Camelot, but perhaps the memory of what
KLARINET used to be, and what it still can be, might be of some help.
