I quite agree. When I was a listowner, the listserv software didn't allow
me to block specific addresses from subscribing, so I had to rely on giving
the advice that we have a certain obligation to scholarship. It worked
well until two people were not advised in any way by the subsequent
listowner. The demise of the list followed over a period of about a year.
Right now there are three suscribers and there hasn't been any activity for
a long time.
