A long time back it was pretty much decided that this list should be
unmoderated. With one exception no one has even been excluded from the list,
and even then it was for a short time. I hesitate as always to reject any
members. The list requires valid emails to join, so people can't hide from
their posts.

I offered back then to have a moderated Klarinet type of list, but there
were few takers. I don't think one would be of much use, anyway. There
"flame war" things happen from time to time between people with strong ideas
and wills - my hands are no cleaner than anyone else's. The best thing to
do, I think, is to set up a folder for posts from some people to drop into.
You don't have to read them, or perhaps when you're in an especially good
mood (and the Internet connection is dead to keep you from answering) you
read the messages in that folder and glean pieces of wisdom should they fall
from the chaff. That's what I do now with some postings. It keeps me from
sending out too many posts that are meant to bite - and I just don't have
the time anymore to handle a good flamefest. Good ones are works of art -
read some of the dialogue between America's founding fathers, or sometimes
the repartee in the British and Canadian House of Commons. Taken out of
context - not pretty stuff - but works of art. Seldom do we get good ones
like those anymore ...

There is a thing called "netiquette". You can find out what it is by sending
a message to netiquette@-----. We all need to re-read it from
time-to-time.
