Someone wise has pointed out to me that the people who understand what
I'm saying don't in general post; and that the people who post are in
general those who don't understand what I'm saying.

I am heartened by that, though I was considerably disappointed by Howard
Klug's contribution.

What I've decided to do is to stop posting until I find I have
sufficient incentive to write again *about* things that are important
and interesting, as opposed to trying to create a climate in which those
important and interesting things can be discussed sensibly.

I still think that to create such a climate is an important endeavour
here. But for the moment, I'll leave that to others.
