This is a very difficult message to write - primarily because I don't want
to put the List through any more crap. I don't like it any more than Peter
Randell, Annie, Ian, or anyone else. However............

Tony writes:
"You can stop what you describe above by dealing with the substantive
issues that arise on this list. I am prepared to wipe clean the slate
between myself and Roger."

Sounds like a threat to me. Agree or be held in contempt - and you will
pay for it...........

Regarding his "offer," it isn't the list's choice. The list, nor anyone
else, will ever determine for me what Tony Pay has said regarding:

My integrity
My trustworthiness
My honesty
and perhaps as importantly,
my ability to understand and communicate

Therefore, I submit to the list - that regardless of what Tony Pay tells
the list or anyone else, he has not told it to ME . Therefore - it is
moot. What he says is NOT between the list and Tony Pay - it is between
Tony Pay and me. The list does not determine that - "Gosh - Tony Pay has
worked a deal with the list to back off as long as it recognizes that it
has wronged Tony Pay - and in return - Tony Pay will 'wipe the slate clean
between Roger and [him].'" It's like a bad attorney trying to work a deal
with opposing counsel.

If Tony Pay has the courage to say it to me - and in the correct way - he
can wipe the slate clean. If not - it isn't clean........by his
choice. Let me ask the big question: if someone is NOT wrong - why would
they offer to "wipe the slate clean" ? Just asking.

All that having been said - if Tony Pay wishes to wipe the slate clean - he
can begin by admitting that he doesn't know what I think, feel, write, or
understand. Then he can apologize for assuming that he knows all of
that. He can even do that privately - as I tried to do with him once -
work it out. Until then - the slate is not clean - not from my standpoint.

Best wishes - really.........REALLY ,

"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me,
this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very
best I know how - the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until
the end. If the end brings me out all right, what is said against me won't
amount to anything. If the end brings me out wrong, 10 angels swearing I
was right would make no difference."
