If I may reply both to you and Peter at once.

With regard to the phrase, it's Australian, actually.

The correct context is: "My throat's as dry as a dead dingo's donger",
and it was taught me by one of the most delightful, generous women I
know. She has two equally delightful teenage daughters, and she and
they are the kindest people I know. I don't think they think ill of
anyone.

Anyhow, what I want to say is, that I hijacked the remark for a reason.
Do you think I don't *know* people will be offended? Do you think I'm
that stupid? Do you think I haven't *tried* rational argument here?

You can stop what you describe above by dealing with the substantive
issues that arise on this list. I am prepared to wipe clean the slate
between myself and Roger.

But the condition for my doing that is that the members of this list
start to participate, from now on. I am fed up with irresponsible
discourse here. It's quite obvious, you don't need to be a genius to
see it. But all this, "you're both right, be grown up and agree to
differ" has got to stop.
