Subj: [kl] Wobbly Joints & Getting High Notes

This is in reference to my previous inquiry concerning the
wobbly middle joint on my Prestige.

Considering the discussions out there about minute changes
that affect timbre and pitch on the clarinet, does the space
and edges exposed from pulling out at the joints affect the
playing of the instrument tonally? I mean, are the ring-
spacers worth using (I already have some)?

I also get the impression that my Prestige was not tuned to
A440. Is there any information out there to support this notion?

I successfully performed the Rozsa for my instructor today,
His Majesty, Dr. Stephen Johnston [He demands that all of
his students call him, "Your Highness" these days-I'm kidding
of course. I think the world of Dr. Johnston.]. He only had a
few comments that basically relate to staying focused so that
little air-leakage and support issues are not noticeable in the
performance. So...I'm happy and ready for "the vultures" on
Monday ["The Vultures" is a little nickname for undergraduates
who think they are "the sh!t" and who come to graduate or
professional performances waiting for you to crash and burn
and then summarily devour the remains.]. In any case, I feel
confident that they will starve this Monday. ;-)

And one last comment..."Relax people...relax!" Take a chill
pill those of you who have a desire to correct others' personalities.
We're all on the same side here and love the same thing-the clarinet
and making music. Let's enjoy, share, revel and humor in that!

You're all great, if you'd let yourself be.

Robert
