Is this violinist an adult beginner or a child? Sue's suggestion is good as
the violinist could fit his/her ability directly to the music and will show
off a young student's progress. If you're of similar age and it's for an
informal event, you might try arranging something with a more ornate
obbligato for you, such as "Me and My Shadow" (if you can write one) or
perhaps extract and transpose the relevant parts from a march trio (Stars
and Stripes Forever comes to mind). If this person is a university student
as well, then your playing a complex part makes him/her sound much more
skilled than he/she actually is.
