A simple, quick experiment you might try regarding a more comfortable thumb
rest... try unscrewing your thumb rest from the instrument, reversing its
position, and reattaching it to the clarinet. This slight change in
position can occasionally yield very helpful results. If it does in your
case, you may either be completely satisified, or you may be encouraged to
explore even more significant changes, such as a replacement thumb rest.

afraid that as soon as I pick up my horn it will be the same problem. I am
going to look for that thumb rest and find something to wrap my thumb in to
