I'm posting WAY too much today. I HAVE to get a LIFE. But......

This is done because the upper joint tenon is bigger than the mouthpiece tenon. I believe the rest of the classic shape is just to make a pretty curve.

All due respect but....well....nonsense

I can't discuss the effect of thick walls, but I have many times played barrels with and without rings. I can't tell any difference.
