Abe, I just got your copies of "Scales and Arpeggios" in the mail, and
they couldn't have come sooner. Several of my students are planning to
audition for the Colorado Springs Wind Symphony, and part of the
requirements for the audition are to play ALL major and minor scales for
2 octaves. I had to write out all of the major & minor scales for last
years' auditions, and I must confess that my handwritten scales were not
very legible. I had looked through all my teaching materials to find the
scales written out, and to tell you the truth, I couldn't find them
anywhere, not in Klose, Pares, or Baermann. Your book of "Scales and
Arpeggios" turned out to be the perfect book for preparation of this
audition.
Also, I am a little bit embarrassed to admit this, but your book
also helped me to get my fingers moving. The scales are so well written
that they are very helpful to me. I am also familiar with your other
book, "Upbeat Baermann", and I like it very much, but I found your
"Scales & Arpeggios" to be useful to me as I played them with my
students. As a jazz player, I need to keep myself "active" in all my
scales, on a daily basis, and I have been keeping in good shape, just
playing the scales with my students. I appreciate that fact that they
are "concise". Thanks a lot for sending me the copies. My students are
already buying them, and I hope they won't fight over them like they did
over your Galper Clarinet Method, when we ran out of copies. Abe, I'll
write more later. I just got back from my gig, and I'm sleepy. ANNIE
