Subj: [kl] clarinet presentation for children
Date: Wed, 19 Sep 2001 13:53:02 -0400

Hi All,

I am putting together a presentation on the clarinet for a group of
kindergarten through 5th grade students in an after-school arts program.
The goal is to introduce the students to the instrument in about 20-25
minutes. I'm including some general information about the relationship of
the clarinet to other instruments and its use in ensembles, and will play
some musical examples so they can hear what it sounds like.

Other than the obvious selections from Peter and the Wolf, does anyone have
suggestions for clarinet musical examples that would be fun for this age
group? If you've done something like this, do you have other
comments/suggestions?

This is rather different from the workshops I've done for students who
already have a clarinet, and I realized when I was asked to do this that I
have not attended such a presentation before. I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks in advance!!

Denise Wilson
