I finally got the chance to watch/listen to the videotape of the Mostly
Mozart Festival Concert (PBS telecast) the second half of which was the
Mozart Requiem. Are the instruments used basset horns or basset clarinets?

(Perhaps demonstrating my ignorance) it has seemed when I've heard these
instruments played they lack the projective quality of the Bb/A clarinets.
Is this perception correct or is it the works in which they have been
played?
