To Whom It May Concern,

I have been a lurker of this list for about 6 months now. I want to thank
those of you who have written with your advice to me and to other people. As
a college freshman, I have found the list quite helpful in diagnosing my
problems and alerting me to new products and recordings. I, however, having
watched the nonsense that has gone on over the past few days, now feel that
it is not a good use of my time to continue receiving these messages. I was
touched by the verse that was sent in on Tuesday that started the whole
argument, aghast that someone would take offense at it in a time when our
thoughts should be elsewhere, and agreed completely with the person who said
"leave it to this group to have this type of conversation". America has
undergone the worst attack in its history, but instead of sending out our
sympathy to the victims and trying to help in some way, this list has "swam
in circles" about a pointless debate. When 5,000 Americans are trapped and
killed under the rubble, this list is bickering about a religious debate.
Does this debate help those who are trapped in the rubble? Does this debate
help those friends and relatives of those people? Does it help the
government, the economy, and the rest of the country pick up the pieces? I
didn't think so.

If you are Christian, fine. So am I. If you are atheist, fine. That
doesn't bother me. This is not the time or the place to discuss these
things. I believe in the constitutional right to freedom of speech, and I
understand that people on this list have vast differences in their belief
systems. But if this tragedy has taught us anything, it's that we need to
all come together as one people. We are all part of the human race. That is
the one thing we all have in common. So, though I am leaving this list, I
ask that you as a group cease this petty discussion. Maybe in peace time,
the discussion would be fruitful and informative, but now? No. Please, from
one human to another, put aside these issues, and get back to music and
clarinet. Those discussions are what this board is for, as they are the most
constructive ways to spend your time, rather than pointless arguing.

Your fellow human being,

Robyn
