This morning I put on a pair of blue jeans, a white top, and a red
cardigan. I then helped my dad raise our American flag. At school nearly
2/3 of the students were wearing red, white, and blue and almost everybody
was wearing red, white, and blue ribbons (available to the whole student
body.) The Principal read to the whole school the letter issued by the
President and we all listened intently. I then came home and checked my
email for the first time in 3 days and was swamped with attacks on emails.
I do realize that this is a forum of discussion, but there is one point I
wish to make. All this hate started with one person's wrongdoing against
another. If you don't think you are part of the problem but then attack
another's email, then you are spreading this disease. Terrorists don't grow
up being loved and appreciated, and I realize it's impossible to wipe out
all the hate in the world. I know you're aching to voice your opinion about
your religion, or someone's views on Christ, but I'm begging you....please
be the bigger person. Of all the students I spoke to today at school, I
cannot recall any arguments between atheists and Christians. If high
schoolers, some of the most vicious people you may encounter, understand the
concept of today, then couldn't the rest of you?

In band today we played Ticheli's American Elegy (a piece we performed last
year) and it filled the students with a soothing calm. My sister was a few
blocks away from the WTC at the time of the first crash, so I am concerned.
To help I'm watching my tongue when I wish to say critical words.
Unfortunately I'm too young to give blood, so I'm off to practice (Flight of
the BumbleBee doesn't fly on its own). I'm lighting a candle with my family
tonight at 7 p.m. but I'm not telling you to. It's your choice.
