I have finally made it in to work. I live outside of Annapolis, MD which
was closed off to keep people away from the U.S. Naval Academy and the state
capitol buildings. Apparently there were direct threats made to those
areas. I sent a post out this morning from home, but we are experiencing
communications problems in my area, so I don't know if it ever made it to my
ISP's server. If a duplicate type post arrives on the list, I apologize. I
just feel the need to speak out and so I am sending this on.

The state of Maryland remains in a state of emergency. Some routes into and
out of Baltimore City are off limits because of the location of federal
buildings downtown and also because Baltimore's World Trade Center received
threats. The area where I live is the site of the NSA and Ft. George G.
Meade, the nation's security posts. Roads into and out of those areas are
closed.

My brother's home office was located in the north tower of the New York
World Trade Center. He is here (in Baltimore) because my mother is very
ill. He arrived at the airport at 8:30 yesterday morning. He stayed with
me last night. Needless to say, he is devastated. He doesn't know if he
even has a job anymore. He would have been in that building except for my
mother's illness. At least he is still alive. He can get another job. I
could never replace my brother.

I have just received Neil's message and am so glad he is alright. I know
all too well how he is feeling. I, myself, have a very hollow feeling in my
middle. To top all this off, my neighbor across the street is a Marine and
works at the Pentagon in the area that was hit. He has not been heard from
yet. He has a six month old son. I only hope he is okay. As time drags on
though, the likelihood of that prospect becomes dimmer.

My house is under the flight path to Baltimore/Washington International
Airport. It has been eerily quiet today without the air traffic overhead.
This is so difficult to comprehend. My stomach is in knots. I am just
grateful that none of our list members have been physically hurt. Thanks
for listening.
