Dear Fellow Clarinetists:

My family and I are safe and sound.

I was walking home from taking my daughter to school (about six miles north of
the World Trade Center) when the first plane hit. I had no awareness that
anything had happened until I turned on the TV after I got home. I'm not sure
why I turned on the TV at that time-I don't usually do that. Up here, a little
north of Lincoln Center, it was a nice, quiet weekday. We didn't even see any
of the smoke because the wind was coming from the west.
