I saw your President on the television reports asking Americans to join him
in praying for the people directly affected, and as I understand it, the US
is (still) predominantly a Christian country. Is something like this really
so unacceptable *in these circumstances*? Of course this forum *must*
concentrate on Clarinet-related and music-related issues, but one post
hardly constitutes an epidemic of religious propaganda. And it was only a
quote from a book. Would I be lambasted were I to quote from any other
(non-religious) book?

I think that under such circumstances (i.e. a national crisis) we can be
tolerant of one or two posts which would otherwise be most inappropriate. I
think any post which offers sympathy, empathy, or support in any way to
anyone suffering as a result of this terrorism can be excepted from the
usual netiquette.

Naturally this is my opinion. I apologise if I have offended anyone. You
are, of course, free to disagree and delete any offending posts. I agree
that this should not turn into a religious debate, and so I shall not post
any further on this subject.

I join other listers in hoping and praying that no member of our own
community has been hurt or bereaved.

Ian
