Subj: [kl] Sibelius`s 'Scorch' changes back to Sibelius

For those of you who may be interested and are able to purchase via credit
card and computer download methods, Sibelius`s publishing side 'Scorch' has
changed it`s name to 'Sibelius Music'. As many of you know, this site allows
you to listen to compositions and arrangements before deciding whether or
not to purchase via credit card then downloading the printed individual
pages, (for which you must then find the time to tape together).

There are by now 1000`s of works in this 'library' of 'cyber' music, written
by composers from all over. My criticism is that there hasn`t been the
required amount of quality control as what there should be, and subsequently
there is some quite sub-standard music within it`s files. To ensure that you
do not spend too much telephone time when searching then, I recommend that
you make up your mind quite quickly as soon as you start to play a piece you
are interested in, then get rid of it to progress onto something else.

There is on the other hand some very good stuff, including quite a bit of
clarinet and saxophone music. Up and coming American composers use this site
to advertise their music, in addition to writers from all over the world. I
suppose this indeed could be one of the new enterprising methods of
publishing music in future. Composers reap 50% this way, whereas from the
big publishing houses there is only 10% from prints. It is from this site
that Mark discovered 'Hauntings' - bless his little soul.

To remind you once more that it is not necessary for you to have the
Sibelius software program to enter sibeliusmusic, only to have it within
your favorites files, and that your computer is wired up for sound play
back.

The new site address is http://www.sibeliusmusic.com for their Home Page.

My Home Page within this site is
http://members.sibeliusmusic.com/anthonywakefield/

Thanks for your time and consideration.

Best,

Tony W.
