I don't know what (if anything) this says about me, but I've never
understood why musicians look on scales as boring. For me, it's a
physical pleasure to make any clear, resonant sound --- which pleasure
was denied to me for most of my life. Perhaps the fact that scales (or
long tones) don't bore me is a sign of my limits --- you know, sort of
like how some dogs are happy to have their tummies scratched and don't
care about anything more complex. But this also relates to the thread
a month or two ago about "What's on your stand this summer?" Most of
the music on people's stands was complex, not simple unembellished
melodies.

Oh well, I guess this is why they say "YMMV".......
