Do you really believe this? First of all, the break is to be made as
invisible as possible in performance. I can't think of any composer who wants
the clarinet to sound uneven. Certainly not any clarinet player who does. If
your register breaks are that noticeable, you have some work to do anyway.

This particular argument doesn't pass the smell test to me.
