What`s the smile for Tony, Cane is not wood, it`s grass. Apart from this
statement, everything else in your mail fits very nicely into place re
tweaking up reeds with a little bending. It is probably <because> reed is
grass, (we see all kinds of basket weaving etc where the material used
becomes permanently 'bent' to take up the shape of what is being made) that
a new slightly 'forced' shape does not damage the reed too much, also
creating the new shape to keep it`s vibrations alive. It is this pliability
then, (it has more tolerance than wood, which if bent would more than likely
break)
that is indeed so advantageous. One wonders if this telephone card trick can
be applied to the plastic reed also. Unfortunately I cannot test this as I
don`t have a - telephone card, :<)

Best,

Tony W.
