Unless the reed chooses that moment to lose its resiliency. We try
to choose a good reed for performance, but once in a while the reed
I've assumed to be nicely broken in and worthy of a concert was closer
to its last breath than I'd suspected. I always bring a couple of
backups onto stage with me, but until the opportunity arises to
make the switch, the ATM card sits on my right leg for a quick
lever action against the reed tip when it starts to close up
again.
