Tony Pay says that his credit card makes his reeds last longer. And non
other than a Bank of Japan card. I wonder if the U.K. Revenue Departments
know of this small, yet useful trick? :<)

Joking aside, could Tony please explain perhaps slightly more scientifically
the real point in this 'trick', and what it actually does to the reed.
Surely the more one messes or stretches by force the fibres in a cane reed,
the reed will eventually weaken to the point of not vibrating vibrantly
enough. It will do this of it`s own accord, but when forced to some
degree - - - - ?
