The largest woodwind retailers in Central London are:
1) Boosey & Hawkes, 295 Regent Street.
2) T.W. Howarth Ltd, 31 Chiltern St. e-mail sales@-----.uk
3) Chappell of Bond Street, 50 New Bond St.
Around London (& more likely to have a competitive rental facility) is:
1) Michael White, (West London) -11 Queens Parade, Queens Drive, Ealing -
'North Ealing' on the Piccadilly Line Tube.
2) Don Mackrill`s, (North London - further than White`s) - 3-5 Station Road,
Edgware. 'Edgware' on Northern Line Tube. www.donmack.com
I recommend only Howarth and perhaps M.White, but after speaking to them,
they tell me that they hire only student instruments - and not 'top of the
range' models. I could not contact Don Mack, but the web site looks quite
informative.
Sly question - If you don`t want to lug/carry/porter/haul an instru. around
U.K. for a month, prior to hiring, how then do you intend to practise and
prepare for your concerts?
