for the magic, perfect equipment

I would carry this thread a step further by saying that my clarinet
was cracked & pinned before I bought it. The previous owner still
gives me a wistful smile when she hears it, and she says, "That _is_ a
beautiful instrument. I feel that the 'magic' is gone from it.... but
if ever you quit playing, I'd like to buy it back from you...."

My point is that if a clarinet can be cracked and pinned (which is a
major repair) and yet it still sounds beautiful, it's hard to imagine
how mere sound waves and swabbing could destroy it.

Cheers,
Bill, who played an extra hour today because music seems to be the
only thing that shuts up the =#$%^!! yapping dog who lives next door
