Subj: RE: [kl] get a sence of humor - geesh (dating a Noblet)
Date: Mon, 3 Sep 2001 13:19:11 -0400

I wasn't making a personal attack or even a commentary about Noblet.
Actually in the grand scheme of things it isn't a bad clarinet by any
streach. I started on a plastic Evette and there is an instrument
begging to be made into a lamp....... but it is all the family could
afford at the time and I loved it and I'd still play it if for some
reason something was wrong with my other 2 that I've bought over the
last 15 years.
I will say, I would grab the Yamaha 34. I guess it would depend on the
condition of the two. Both are wood instruments so I would check the
wood .... look through it up to a light... if you see the light bouncing
around the inside then it has been taken care of and swabbed... if you
see a lot of lines running on the inside and it is dull, then the
previous owner didn't swab it much. Ultimately it is which ever one
feels and sounds the best to you. I've played both models of instrument
on many occasions and I prefer the Yamaha 34 by leaps and bounds. It is
your choice. I apologize if I insulted you. In all reality I probably
would have said it if it was dateing Yamaha, noblet, Evette, Greenline,
RC, R-13, Selmer or whatever. :) I've been getting the Klarinet for 6
years and once in a great while some humor is needed.

Subject: [kl] Response to Sean Talbot

Sean,
I guess you think you are amusing but I do not. This list is not about
meaness, it is about helping others and discussing different topics
relating
to the clarinet which we all love or we wouldn't be here.

Maybe the Noblet is not a great clarinet, I don't know, but no one
responded
to my last post (both on this list and the alt.music.clarinet newsgroup)
asking on whether the instrument was a reasonable one or not. The
clarinet
I currently play is 'crap' (a Corton), I am trying to upgrade but don't
have
a lot of money ($400US). I believe (from the research I have done) that
the
used Noblet would be a better purchase than the used Yamaha 34 which is
what
I can currently afford. Or perhaps I am wrong?

I don't think that you should be judging my situation without knowing
all
the facts and I especially don't appreciate your unhelpful answer.
Maybe it
is you that doesn't have a lot of personality and is not very good at
kissing.... it sounds like you have a personality of a large block of
wood
either way.

Marina
