Subj: [kl] instrument replacement - a question for Dan Leeson (and others)

Dan (and Listmates),

I read with interest your thoughtful post on instrument replacement
and am wondering if bore size, as well as purchase price, could affect
an instrumentalist's conviction that his/her horn should be replaced
due to age. After all, a minute change in oboe bore size - for any of
the usage-related reasons you specified - is a much larger percentage
change in the bore and would likely have a greater effect on the way
the horn plays. The converse would be true for a bassoon or bass
clarinet.

Do you agree? Have you heard anyone else discuss this?

Best regards,

Anne
