Av Galper of Toronto, and certainly one of Klarinet's most knowledgeable
and experienced contributors, was kind enough to fax an edition of the
solo part of K. 622 to me, of which I had no previous knowledge.
Dating from 1906 in a publication by Carl Fischer and part of volume of
clarinet solo works compiled by Paul de Ville, it requests a clarinet in
B-flat. It also bears an opus number, "Op. 107."

Av suggested that, perhaps because of the passage of time, Carl Fisher
was sufficiently embarassed by this edition that they asked Bellison to
prepare a new one. And in light of what we do today, it is an edition
with significant curiosities. One can almost hear the editor saying,
"Now if you put this music in at that point, it will sound much better,"
and then providing an eingang of questionable character for the passage
at hand. There are major insertions of original music into the text.

The editor of the edition is not named. One cannot blame de Ville
because he is credited only with compiling the book, not of editing
anything.

Ah the things one sees when one is out without a gun!! Thanks Av.
