That's the great thing about an unmoderated list that's populated by such a diversity
of members. Topics launched in one direction, with one intention, can be taken up by
any other member and thrust into, and with, an entirely new one. And sometimes the new
one is more meaningful in its substance than that from which it originated. As for your
ear being better than Beethoven's, that is yet to be seen. Who knows how you'll turn
out, but it's reasonably assured at this point that his ear was better than your own,
deaf or not.
