I definitely think that, A clarinet has a different timbre than Bb. As a
player myself, I cultivate my own playing that way intentionally. Or I did
when I was playing consistently. However, lest I open a can of worms that
needs to stay closed, I will not describe the sort of mental imagery I
utilize when I practice each instrument. Suffice it to say, the two
collections of colors and descriptions are quite dissimilar, though I
always DO DO attempt to keep within whatever limits the composer of a
particular piece has set, if any.
