Hey folks,

This was one of the first lists I joined when I first discovered the magical
world of listservs back in 1995. Given the exigencies of job changes and
moving around, I was away from the list for several years and only recently
came back. I continue to enjoy the discussion.

My own background is not very exciting. Went to Hardin-Simmons University
(Abilene TX) as a Music Ed major, clarinet principal and bassoon secondary,
then ended up in industry instead of academe. Went 15 years without
touching the clarinet, then picked it back up (while living in North
Carolina) to play in church orchestras, theater pit groups, and a couple of
big band jazz groups. Now I play in local community bands and church when I
live in a place that has such. (I also have spent most of the past 25 years
as a church choir director in various places.) And I hate to admit it, but
my daughter is not a clarinetist: she plays flute and recorder instead.

Anyway, here's my question:
Back when I was first on the list (95-96 timeframe) there was a member who
lived in the San Jose area who was retired from active playing in the NYC
arena (Broadway, symphony, etc.). I don't remember his name, but I loved
his stories.

Anybody know who I mean? Or did I dream it? And is he still around?
