I conducted "Fiddler" a couple of years ago. The rental version has two
clarinet books -- one for Bb Clarinet and one for Bb Clarinet doubling Bb
Bass Clarinet. In our production, the "pit" was backstage, so our two
clarinetists were in costume and went on stage for the wedding scene, with
the rest of the orchestra accompanying them from backstage.

If you want to get the feel for how the music all fits together, get the
original Broadway Cast recording with Zero Mostel, NOT the movie and not one
of the other stage production recordings. The rental books are duplicates
of the original 1964 books, right down to some pages that are dated within a
few days of the show's Broadway opening night.
