Subj: [kl] Presentation of Sidney Bechet at ClarinetFest 2001

John, I really enjoyed your presentation/performance about Sidney
Bechet. I had only heard his music a couple of times from cassetts
purchased at bargain bins, and they sounded terrible. Your live
performances of his music with the band were great for getting the feel
of the music across to us. I could tell that you spent a lot of time
preparing your program because you had to talk so fast to get everything
finished in one hour. The lead sheets were great. I might add one of
those tunes to my repertiore, without the fast vibrato. I wondered at
the end of the lecture, how he died. He was only 62 when he died in
1957. Do you have any plans for future lectures on jazz artists?
ANNIE
