Per F. Geoffrey Rendall's "The Clarinet," the Albert system was developed
in 1846. It was actually developed *after* the Boehm system (Rendall gives
1843 for that development).

the older Müller system and even simple system horns continued to be made
and sold in significant numbers for many decades after the introduction of
the Albert and Boehm systems.
