When I was still playing Bonades, I would lubricate the screws with a
little cork grease. That made the screw turn more easily, and made it
easier to stop at the proper pressure, since I'm also a compulsive screw
tightener. Before lubrication, the Bonade screws had that nasty
metal-on-metal feel, and I can see how they might wear quickly that way.
