I did get the mouthpiece out to give it a blow - and when I did, something
caught my eye. I saw what at first I thought was dirt inside the mp. I went
to clean it out with a swab. But when I looked in a better light I saw what
it really was: two deep scratches around the sides of the chamber (i think -
not to good with my technical terms) just below the level of the bottom of
the opening. Now I'm fairly sure I didn't do this as I only played on the MP
for a month tops when I got my clarinet. The reason I stopped was because my
sound was stuffy to the extreme - a permanent loud, wet hiss - I sqeaked a
lot. I couldn't control the sound. Would these massive gouges have anything
to do with this?
Any enlightenment gratefully received!
Em.
