If they can play everything in the Rubank Elementary Book, I recommend
skipping the Rubank Intermediate entirely (it really adds nothing new) and
jumping straight into the Rubank Advanced Vol. I. It is set up in a
programmed learning style (check the chart in the front). Each lesson has
scale exercises, melodic studies, rhythm studies, etc that are coordinated.
You do need to use the chart as the layout of the book has all the scales
together and so on and makes it look more dry than it really is.
