Subj: [kl] I'm baaack! Now bad parts - AGAIN
Date: Sat, 4 Aug 2001 05:13:23 -0400

It`s nice to see a little grumbling about the BORING/BAD part writing in
music you are playing. LET THE PUBLISHER & ARRANGERS KNOW IT!

Remember, there`s not much point in <continuing> a mood, or aura of sound in
band music unnecessarily, using boring repetitive phrases. It is only the
<real> symphonic variety - an <orchestra> can <handle> it much better than a
band, where this may happen. In band, it is nothing more than lazy
composition/arranging - an easy way to lengthen a piece, and a bad
understanding of what wind instruments can and cannot do. Film orchestra to
band transcriptions are some of the worst offenders. Once the "mood" has
been heard, once or twice, the transcription should move onwards to create
further interest - unlike a novel, which <can be allowed> to set a permanent
mood thru`out.

Keep up the GOOD work.
