<<<Oh, I'm sorry, it was the Sewanee Summer Music Festival at the
University of the South in Sewanee, TN. In the Smoky Mountains, too!>>>

Better look at your atlas again, Lacy. Those hills you saw weren't the
Smoky Mountains, but in Tennessee they are called the Cumberland Mountains,
more properly known as the "Cumberland Plateau." I'm not sure about the
elevation in and around Sewanee, but I think it might be around 1000 to 1500
feet, while in the Smoky Mountains there are peaks at over 6000 feet.

Let me see, I should try to make this clarinet-related. What was your
experience as to the effects of the altitude on your reeds?

P.S. to all other list members: Lacy and I decided a couple of years ago
that we could never be married to each other, because then her name would be
Lacy Lacy. But that's OK, as I'm already married, and have been for over 42
years. (Oh, yes, all of it to only one wife.)
