Lacy, I graduated in 1969, one year after my classmates Larry Guy, Tina
Ward, and Tim Foley (now Lt. Colonel Foley, conductor of "The Presidents
Band".) Tina and I entered a contest in 1967 to play the Copland
Clarinet Concerto with AaronCopland conducting the Oberlin Orchestra.
Tina won. I was a very poor sport. I was trying to play standing up with
double lip embochure, the way Mr. Weber taught me to play, and I didn't
play well enough to win. I left Oberlin for a year after that and had a
very long "party" in New York. It's a miracle that I made it back to
Oberlin for graduation in 1969. ANNIE
