Klarinet Archive - Posting 000731.txt from 2001/07
From: "Jim Hobby" <jhobby@-----.net> Subj: [kl] Strange links in web pages Date: Sun, 29 Jul 2001 11:47:56 -0400
I've recently noticed that no matter where I go on the web, I find words
underlined with hypertext links to places or subjects that have nothing to
do with the subject -- or I should say, nothing relevant. Examples:
A few days ago, I was searching the 7 wonders of the ancient world.
(Nothing academic; a point of curiosity.) There were links in some of those
web pages to places selling everything from scholarly research material to
tourist-trap type models.
Today I clicked on the link from the klarinet digest to the web for Clarinet
Composer. In that, everywhere the words "classical music" appeared, they
were underlined and were a link to BMG Music Club. Even in the track
listing "Mendelssohn" had the same link.
Are others getting this? Is this just another form of the anoying pop-up
advertising?
