I do not think that it was intended by Jim, but the quoting could be
misinterpreted. My posting did only comment on certain habits in german
orchestras. I am certainly not qualified to comment on tonal differences
of clarinets.

BTW: I do _not_ agree with the argumentation in the discussed open
letters. The choice of instrument should be left to the player. Reality is
a little bit different.
